Vagrant signs California Wives

Congrats to Chicago-based California Wives for signing to the Vagrant label for their debut full length. And congrats to Vagrant for picking up a kick ass band. I was turned on to California Wives early last year and was really blown away by their EP. Here's a link to the Q&A I did with them after I heard the record. The release date for the new record has not been announced..

Just got the news that Citizen Cope released the first single from his upcoming record today. I've really become a big fan of his music over the past several years and was really happy to hear about new material.

This week's new releases include music from Meiko and Violens. I don't know much about Violens but the I thought the "Amoral" recorded sounded great and they have a fascinating aesthetic. Any big Violens fans out there that can fill me in on what this band is all about?

Braid announced plans for a summer tour with Owen.

Unless I'm Led

Mates Of State just premiered the new video for "Unless I'm Led" on Rolling Stone. This is my favorite song on the Mountaintops record, so I'm really happy to see it get the proper treatment.

Toad The Wet What?

I don't know how many people remember Toad The Wet Sprocket but I am a fan. Their music was jangly, thoughtful and melodic -  a staple in my playlist in the early '90s. The band has reformed after about 15 years and is working on a new record. In 2010 they took ownership of their catalog and set out on a massive US tour in 2011. Welcome back, guys. Looking forward to the new material.
